Now and then, we need to make the people in our life feel extra special. A gift could give out many messages ranging from ‘I Love you!’ and ‘Happy Birthday!’ to ‘I’m sorry!’ and ‘Get well soon!’ Rather than a gift card or cash in a hallmark greetings card a personalized gift always makes the recipient feel more special and thought about.

While a teenager will be more than happy with a gift cart to Sephora or cash to go towards their car fund, a gift for an adult would require a little more thought. If you are giving a gift to someone you are close to (best friend, spouse) this should be easy as you are bound to know what they like and what they don’t. Giving a gift to someone you don’t know so well has to be handled carefully. Avoid gifts such as food, perfumes or items of clothing as everybody has different tastes and you really don’t want to give chocolates to someone on a diet or a dress that’s 5 inches too short. Stick to items such as a good book, potted plant or a quality picture frame.

If you are planning to give a gift to someone who lives too far away to be presented by hand, there are always better alternatives than snail mail where your recipient is likely to receive a delayed gift in a squashed package. Why not go through the many internet directories full of cheap couriers to find someone who will deliver your package in time and in good condition? Hiring a courier is a great way to make sure that your present gets delivered fast and could especially benefit in situations where the recipient is in another country and airmail could be a great deal slower. But try not to send live gifts such as kittens, puppies, fish or plants as many couriers don’t deliver live items.

Wrapping is almost as important as the gift. Though it is said that the best gift comes in the plainest wrapping, everybody loves the excitement they feel when ripping through the layers of wrapping paper and paper ribbons. If you are presenting a gift at a party, make sure to include a card with your name on it to make sure that the recipient won’t confuse your well thought out beautifully wrapped gift with someone else’s.
